Managing Stress

Having worked in public and private settings for over 20 yrs, I am aware of the importance of staff morale to the success of any organisation.

Unfortunately, excessive pressure due to workload and other factors is now a common experience for employees and the number of stress related absences from work is continually growing.

According to the Health and Safety Executive:

A total of 13.8 million working days were lost to work related stress, depression and anxiety between 2006 and 2007 and this is set to rise...

In the short term, increased stress related absence leads to falling standards, reduced productivity and a reduction in morale for the remaining workforce, who must cover for their absent colleagues.

In the longer term, organisations may experience recruitment and retention difficulties, increasing inefficiency and spiralling costs.

Why is Stress Management Training and Support Important?

Often, employees will experience a range of stress related symptoms but not recognise these as an issue until it is too late. They can rapidly become physically, mentally or emotionally unwell and unable to work.

In tough economic times it is especially important that employees avoid excess pressure and remain highly motivated, to ensure your organisation retains a competitive edge.

Stress Management Training can:

Improve an employee's awareness of stress and enable them to carry out a personal stress audit.

Explore a range of practical strategies to reduce workplace stress and increase personal effectiveness.

Introduce a range of organisational and time management techniques to enable employees to work 'smarter not harder'.

Develop employees' understanding of personal wellbeing, and learn strategies to improve mental and physical health including diet, exercise and sleep.

Encourage staff to create personal action plans to ensure they maintain a good work/life balance
